Meditation Format


The Energization Exercises are a series of standing exercises developed by Paramahansa Yogananda to help prepare one for meditation. They are practiced individually or in a group before meditation.


The meditation service format includes periods of silent meditation and periods of devotional chanting and also includes Paramahansa Yogananda’s healing technique.

If you are new to meditation please click here. You may also register for “Lessons for home study” by clicking here. The lessons give Paramahansa Yogananda’s step-by-step instructions in the yoga techniques of meditation, concentration and energization that he taught, including Kriya Yoga.

Additionally, there are video talks available on YouTube by some of the monks and nuns of SRF.


Chanting with deep concentration and devotion draws the devotee inward to the altar of God’s presence. A Cosmic Chants booklet is available to learn the words to chants.


During the last portion of the meditation, time is spent in prayer for those who are in need of healing and for world peace.
